Carving Designs for Pumpkins
Pumpkins are such a versatile fruit that its hard to imagine not having one carved for those celebrations that
we associate pumpkins with – Halloween especially. But like most people, if you don’t have that necessary
artistic ‘bent’, so to speak, the only way your pumpkin is going to look even half way decent will be to use a
carving design template on it to guide your knife to where it needs to go to make that picture look anything
respectable. Too many times the cat looks like a one legged elephant, and the witch just looks weird, so using
a carving template is a pretty easy way of getting this done.
Carving designs can be found all over the internet for free. Simply go to your favorite search engine, look it
up, and you’ll see dozens of designs that you can download and print out when you find the one that you want.
These work especially well for kids, as they will probably have closer experience with staying ‘inside the
lines’ sort of projects, which is what’s needed to carve respectably onto the pumpkin. The carving designs
themselves have almost limitless potential and are so easy to find and use it’s wonderful.
If you’re not a great web hunter or internet savvy, then the next place to look is in your local grocery store.
Usually all the main chains will have some carving designs and toolkits for sale close to the holiday itself,
and as most store today market the holidays weeks, sometimes months in advance you should have no problem
finding and buying some designs well in advance. Failing that, your local dollar store will have similar
products for sale for amazingly low prices, but remember it’s a dollar store, so your not going to get anything
that’s of too great a style for your buck.
If you don’t have that near you, try your local school or college art department, quite a lot now offer classes

been pre-carved for you, which will of course of someone else’s carving design on it. Whichever way you go, do

go pastic – it never fails year after year.
