SOUL is a grassroots organization whose mission is to promote efficient and orderly management of power, based on the needs of Wisconsin, while protecting the natural, social and economic environments and citizens of Wisconsin.

Our mission statement, above, states not only who we are, but what our goals are.  SOUL is committed to participating and hosting events which promote the "efficient and orderly use of power".  We feel that renewable energy, especially small community based projects which keep both the benefits and the proceeds local are best for all communities.  Distributed resources also provide a greater opportunity for a continual energy supply coupled with  added efficiency and conservation provide an ample supply of resources.

SOUL currently is examining the "orderly use of power" as we support and promote policies to improve Wisconsin's Public Service Commission, leading to it's return to serve the Public.  SOUL is exploring state policy which would promote statewide energy planning---not the current planning in which utility proposal becomes integrated energy policy.
